WAGO COMPACT connecting terminals of the 221 series make connecting conductors child's play
There are numerous types of connecting terminals, be it the well-known lamp terminal, box terminal or series terminal. With the WAGO connecting terminal, in contrast to all the other terminals, you can connect any type of conductor without any tools.
Plug-in terminals with levers such as the WAGO terminal are suitable for both multi-wire and single-wire electrical conductors. Our range of WAGO terminals includes 2, 3 and 5 conductor terminals in the 4 and 6 mm² variants. This variation offers a wide range of possible uses, especially where different conductor types and cross-sections meet. Connecting conductors is easier than with any other terminal and wiring is time-saving and reliable. When using luster terminals for multi-wire cables, wire end ferrules usually have to be attached. This step is not necessary with the WAGO connecting terminals, because there is no risk of wires sticking out or being damaged by screws with these terminals. Another big advantage is that conductors with different cross-sections can be attached to the connecting terminal. And all without any additional tools.
How does wiring work with WAGO terminals?
The WAGO terminals are very small and compact. Due to their extremely small dimensions, they are ideal for tight spaces. This means that the terminals can be installed very easily and also create space for possible extensions. Operation is intuitive and connecting the conductors is quick and easy. The levers can be opened and closed with little effort. Thanks to the recessed grips on the side, the WAGOs are firmly in the hand in every situation. The procedure for connecting conductors is as follows:
- Strip the desired conductors
- Open WAGO terminal with the lever
- Insert the ladder
- Close the lever
The transparent housing allows you to constantly check the conductor position. The contact point is gas-tight, which ensures that the conductor is permanently and securely connected to the busbar. Two easily accessible test openings (one in the direction of the conductor connection and the other on the opposite side) make the test conditions very convenient, even when installed. The application is suitable for ambient temperatures of up to 85 °C and the maximum terminal temperature according to the UL standard is 105 °C. The WAGO terminals have globally recognized approvals. If you want to separate conductors from each other again, this is also possible without any problems. As with plugging in, the lever is opened and the cable is removed.
Application areas of WAGO terminals
Connecting cables is one of the most common tasks when connecting electronic devices in the home, converting a camper or installing solar modules. Since WAGO terminals can connect both multi-wire and single-wire conductors, the possible applications are very diverse. In addition, the terminals can be used with any cable cross-section, which makes them so flexible and compatible for every application. Two application examples are connecting solar modules to charge controllers or connecting consumers to a battery.
