Battery charging is improved: Wireless temperature monitoring
The Smart Battery Sense is a wireless battery voltage and temperature sensor for Victron MPPT solar chargers.
With a voltage and temperature sensor, the batteries are charged better, charging efficiency is improved and battery life is extended.
By measuring the voltage directly at the battery bank terminals, errors caused by voltage loss due to cable resistance are avoided. This ensures the correct charging voltage.
For lead batteries, battery temperature data is used to adjust charging voltages: cold batteries require a higher charging voltage, whereas hot batteries require a lower charging voltage.
For lithium batteries, temperature data is used to stop charging when the batteries are too cold: charging lithium batteries at temperatures around freezing or below will permanently damage the cells.
No wiring
The connection between the Smart Battery Sense and one or more solar chargers is wireless. A VE.Smart Network is used - a wireless technology based on the Bluetooth Smart function.
The transmitted data can be used simultaneously by one, two or more solar chargers connected to the same 12V, 24V or 48V battery bank. The Smart Network is set up using the VictronConnect app.
Neat, simple - smart
Installation is simple, quick and neat. Simply attach the device's two cable lugs to the battery terminals and mount the Smart Battery Sense device directly on the battery using its self-adhesive strip.
