VRLA technology
VRLA stands for "Valve Regulated Lead Acid," which means the battery cells are valve-regulated, allowing gases caused by overcharging or cell defects to escape through a safety valve. These batteries are particularly leak-proof and can be used in any position. They are also completely maintenance-free.
Sealed GEL batteries
The VRLA GEL battery binds the electrolyte in a silica gel. This results in a longer service life and better suitability for cyclic loading. Despite a lower effective capacity at high discharge currents, GEL batteries offer superior longevity in maintenance and cyclic use.
Low self-discharge
Thanks to lead-calcium grids and high-purity materials, Victron VRLA batteries have a very low self-discharge rate of less than 2% per month at 20°C. This rate doubles with every 10°C increase in ambient temperature. When stored in a cool place, the batteries require no recharging for up to one year.
Deep discharge behavior: Victron VRLA batteries recover excellently even after prolonged deep discharge. However, it should be noted that repeated and prolonged deep discharges can lead to irreversible damage.
Discharge characteristics
The specified nominal capacity refers to a discharge time of 20 hours, i.e. a discharge current of 0.1 C. A lower discharge current increases the capacity, while a higher one decreases it (see performance table in the data sheet).
