Victron charger Centaur Charger for 12 V batteries
Victron Energy's new Centaur battery charger range is designed for worldwide use.
Compliance with general requirements and input/output specifications are the main features of this new range designed by the recognized Dutch manufacturer. It is designed to meet both the requirements of CE marking for Europe and UL marking for the United States.
The Centaur range automatically allows an input range that extends from 90 to 265 VAC 50/60 Hz, meaning the devices can be used all over the world.
The Centaur model also operates from 90-400 VDC input power, making it a DC-DC charging converter that is perfect for an electronic diesel system. Among other features, the model features a fully automatic three-stage charging curve that ensures the batteries are fully charged every time, as well as three separate charging outputs for multi-battery setups to suit most of the typical installations.
Robust device, quality without compromise
Aluminum housing with epoxy powder coating, drip protection against condensation and stainless steel fastening parts withstand the toughest conditions such as heat, humidity and salty atmospheres.
The circuit boards are protected against corrosion by an acrylic coating. Temperature sensors ensure that all power components operate within specified limits and that the output current is automatically reduced under extreme conditions.
All models operate without any special settings in a voltage range of 90 V to 265 V at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz. This means that they can be used worldwide, regardless of the voltage and frequency range of the local network.

Centaur initially charges with constant current (bulk) until the charging current has dropped to 70% of the nominal value
This is followed by a fixed four-hour constant voltage phase, at the end of which there is a maintenance charge phase. The charging voltage is regulated by the internal temperature sensor (-2mV/°C per cell).
With a tip switch, the optimal charging voltage values can be set for the respective battery types (e.g. wet lead battery, gel battery or AGM battery).
