BMV-712 BLACK Smart: intelligent battery computer with integrated Bluetooth

The BMV-712 is a high-precision battery monitor that enables reliable and highly accurate monitoring of batteries.
The main function of a battery computer is to calculate the ampere hours consumed and the charge level of a battery. The ampere hours consumed are calculated by integrating the current that flows into or out of the battery.

The remaining battery capacity depends on the amp hours consumed, the discharge current, the temperature and the age of the battery. Complex software algorithms are required to take all these variables into account. Apart from the basic display options such as voltage, current and amp hours consumed, the BMV-712 Smart Series also displays the state of charge, remaining run time and power consumption in watts.

With its built-in Bluetooth, the BMV Smart is ready for the age of the "Internet of Things" (IoT).
Most other Victron Energy products also feature Bluetooth. Wireless communication between products simplifies system installation and improves performance.

easy installation

All electrical connections are made to the power shunt via the PCB connector. The shunt is connected to the monitor via a standard RJ12 telephone cable.
Included in delivery: RJ 12 cable (10 m) and battery cable with fuse (2 m). No other components are required. Also included are a separate front panel for a square or round display; a safety ring for rear mounting and screws for front mounting.

Easy programming (with your smartphone!)

A quick installation menu and a detailed setup menu with scrolling support the user when making the various settings. Alternatively, a quick and easy solution can be used: download the smartphone app (Bluetooth Smart Dongle is not required)

Monitoring the midpoint voltage

This feature, commonly used in industry to monitor large and expensive battery banks, is now available for the first time at a lower price so that any battery bank can be monitored.
A battery bank consists of a string of cells connected in series. The midpoint voltage is the voltage halfway along the string. Ideally, the midpoint voltage is exactly half of the total voltage.
In practice, however, deviations do occur. These depend on numerous factors, such as different states of charge in new batteries or cells, different temperatures, internal leakage currents, capacities and many more.
Large or increasing deviations in the midpoint voltage indicate improper battery care or a faulty battery or cell. Corrective action following a midpoint voltage alarm can prevent serious damage to an expensive battery.
