Victron Argofet 200-2 200A FET battery isolator for 2 batteries
Victron Argofet 200-2 Two batteries 200A
Similar to isolating diodes, FET isolators enable simultaneous charging of two or more batteries by a generator or through a charger connection without connecting the batteries to each other. Discharging the on-board battery does not lead to simultaneous discharging of the starter battery.
In contrast to isolation diodes, there is practically no voltage loss with FET isolators. Voltage drop is less than 0.02 volts at low currents and only 0.1 volts at higher Stream.
With ARGO FET battery separation no voltage increase is required. However, one should be careful Pay attention to cable lengths and sufficient cross-sections.
An example:
A 100 A current with a cable length of 10 m and 50 mm2 cable cross-section has a voltage loss of
0.26 volts. With 5 m of cable with 10 mm2, a 50 A current causes a voltage loss of 0.35 volts!
Generator starting excitation
Some generator types require a direct voltage at the B+ pole for starting excitation. On the one hand, the
There is a direct cable connection between the battery and the generator. On the other hand,
The isolation diode prevents the current from flowing back, so that the generator does not start.
The new Argofet battery separation has a special current-limited connection for the start-up excitation,
when the generator is started.
